MutMacher Award 2026 for wiegon

Awarded by Europaregion Tirol Südtirol Trentino, Der Tiroler Innovations Presis 2003, Innovationsfördernde Öffentliche Beschaffung, Energy Globe, Umwelt Wirtschaft

On 5 May 2026, twelve Tyrolean companies were presented with the Tiroler Tageszeitung’s MutMacher Business Award in the atrium of Moser Holding in Innsbruck. wiegon received the jury prize in the Product and Service Innovation category.

The MutMacher is an initiative by the Tiroler Tageszeitung to promote greater courage and innovative spirit in the Tyrolean economy. The jury awards the prize to companies that break new ground and thereby inspire others. We are delighted to receive this award because it demonstrates what is possible in Tyrol: we turned a problem at an overloaded recycling centre in Ischgl into the starting point for a solution that is now in use in Germany, Austria and soon beyond.

Armin Wolf and Bernhard Weiskopf accepted the award on behalf of the entire competence cluster. wiegon is not a traditional company, but a competence cluster comprising three companies working together on the digitalisation and automation of municipal recycling centres.

What makes us particularly pleased: the award comes at a time when recycling centres in Germany and Austria are under greater pressure than ever before. More waste streams, fewer staff, rising expectations from the public. This is exactly where wiegon comes in.

Thank you to the jury, to the Tiroler Tageszeitung and to all the local authorities and partners who are joining us on this journey.
