The prize is considered the most important award for innovation projects by Tyrolean companies. This year's winners were Pohl Metall GmbH, Wiegon GmbH and AR Technology GmbH.

In order to recognize and publicize the most innovative products, services and concepts that have been developed in Tyrolean companies and have already achieved initial success on the market, the Tyrolean Innovation Prize was awarded for the 23rd time on 22 November by the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce together with the state of Tyrol. Of the many forward-looking submissions, sustainable coating technologies, digitalized recycling and improved patient care through the use of augmented reality came out on top this year and were awarded the Tyrolean Innovation Prize by the jury.

Innovation as an investment in the future

In addition to the representatives from politics and business invited to the Innovation Award, WK President Barbara Thaler was also impressed by the innovative potential of local companies: "Especially in times of crisis, the ability to create something new and push existing boundaries is invaluable. When it comes to sustainable investment in the future, it is always innovation, research, digitalization and automation that make the small but significant difference. I would therefore like to thank all the companies that submitted their forward-looking ideas for this year's Tyrolean Innovation Award. As Tyrol as a business location, we want to continue to support our companies in the development of innovative products and services in order to create the best possible framework conditions for economic success," said Barbara Thaler, President of the Chamber of Commerce, who was delighted with the numerous submissions for the Tyrolean Innovation Award.

Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs Mario Gerber also congratulated all the nominated companies on their forward-looking ideas: "Whether in terms of products, processes or services - innovations are an essential prerequisite for the further development of the local business location. As Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs, I am proud that we have so many innovative companies in our province that strengthen the Tyrol as a business location, increase competitiveness and secure numerous jobs in our province and create new ones. My thanks and congratulations today go to those businesspeople who are driving progress in Tirol with their innovative strength and forward-looking ideas and technologies."

With Europe's most modern waste management center in Ischgl, Wiegon GmbH from Landeck has created a fully automated system to increase recycling rates and citizen service. The digitalized recycling centre in the touristy Paznaun Valley masters the balancing act between the 1,600 or so residents of the vacation resort and the approximately 1.6 million overnight stays per year. With its innovative concept, Wiegon GmbH has succeeded in digitalizing all waste management center processes - from identification to the dosing of recyclables. The digital system enables the recycling center in Ischgl to extend its opening hours without the need for staff. Wiegon GmbH was awarded the 7,500 euro innovation prize in the "Service Innovation" category by WK Vice President Martin Wetscher for its pioneering recycling concept.

Wiegon is also nominated for the Austrian State Prize of Innovation!

We are delighted that Wiegon GmbH, alongside Pohl Metall GmbH and Bernard Technologies GmbH, has been sent to the Austrian State Prize of Innovation of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs!
