When does waste disposal actually fit into your schedule?

For many citizens, the honest answer is: rarely. Opening hours, travel distances, and time constraints often make the disposal of recyclable materials unnecessarily complicated. This is exactly where wiegon's vision comes in.

Disposal when and where it is needed

Our goal is to make recycling easier, more flexible, and more suitable for everyday use. Everyone should be able to dispose of their recyclables anytime, anywhere, regardless of traditional opening hours and recycling centers.

That is why we are working with Raoul Janssen from Namdal Ressurs AS to develop an autonomous drop-off point that complements existing drop-off systems and creates new opportunities for use in public spaces.

The autonomous drop-off point at a glance

The solution is deliberately simple, robust, and designed for municipal use:

  • Battery-powered without a fixed power connection
  • Use of standard 1100-liter containers with easy emptying
  • Use as a single location or as an autonomous recycling island
  • Identification of users via the wiegon app or RFID card
  • Flexible billing by item, unit, or weight
  • Central documentation of all waste streams for citizens and municipalities
  • Optionally expandable with camera, security monitoring, and fill level sensors

The result is a drop-off point that can be operated independently and quickly integrated into existing structures.

Added value for municipalities and associations

The autonomous drop-off point offers clear advantages for municipalities, waste associations, and operators:

  • Very quick and easy commissioning
  • Higher quality of separation and fewer incorrect disposals
  • Reduced collection effort and lower emissions
  • Clearly structured, citizen-friendly collection points in public spaces

At the same time, the classic recycling center is relieved without being replaced. The photos show the concept visualization.

Pilot projects wanted

We are currently looking for partner municipalities and associations who would like to work with us to implement pilot projects and test new approaches to waste management. If you are interested in an exchange or a specific application, we look forward to hearing from you.
