wiegon GmbH was honored at the Euregio Innovation Award 2025 during the Euregio Days at the European Forum Alpbach!
Under the motto “Competitiveness,” the jury selected three winners from Tyrol, South Tyrol, and Trentino from 54 submitted projects. With our project “Towards greater sustainability with Europe's most modern recycling center,” we impressed the jury with our innovative approach to a digital circular economy.
Our project: Autonomous, digital, and sustainable
Our recycling centers are designed so that citizens can safely and easily drop off their recyclables around the clock—even in the evenings, on weekends, or on holidays—without any staff on site. The system combines intelligent hardware, digital control, and a central control center that monitors all locations in real time.
The advantages at a glance:
- Smart access systems
- Accurate billing by the kilogram & digital estimation via app
- Real-time monitoring of all locations
- More efficient processes & lower operating costs
- Higher recycling rates & creation of attractive jobs
In this way, we are making an important contribution to how digitalization, sustainability, and citizen-friendliness can work together.
A strong signal from the Euregio
The Euregio Innovation Award has been presented for the eighth time. It is sponsored by the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce and the Chambers of Commerce of Bolzano and Trento. The award was presented in the presence of Euregio President and Governor Arno Kompatscher (South Tyrol), Governor Anton Mattle (Tyrol), and Provincial Councilor Simone Marchiori (Trentino).
“The Euregio Awards are much more than just an award. With the projects submitted, we are highlighting innovative approaches that can serve as inspiration for research and forward-looking projects,” emphasized Governor Kompatscher (South Tyrol).
Governor Mattle (Tyrol) added: “Especially with regard to maintaining competitiveness in an international market, new approaches, innovative solutions, creativity, and ambition are needed.”
Provincial Councilor Marchiori (Trentino) emphasized: “All finalists carry a piece of our identity with them: the ability to be innovative without forgetting our roots.”
Jury President Marcus Hofer (Standortagentur Tirol) also emphasized: “The winning projects prove that companies in the Euregio not only participate in international competition, but also actively shape it.”
Congratulations to the other winners
1. RevIVe MedTech (Kufstein) – Care @ home: IV therapy reimagined
2. B2Labtech (Rovereto) – AI-controlled human-centric lighting
We are proud to have been recognized in this strong field and congratulate the other winners on their exciting projects.
