The town of Saalfelden has chosen wiegon

We are delighted to be working with the town of Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer to implement a comprehensive digitalisation project. The recycling centre and waste collection services are going digital, and residents will benefit from simpler and more transparent processes.

Saalfelden is situated in the province of Salzburg and is the most populous town in the district of Zell am See. A well-functioning waste management system is therefore of great importance, and this is precisely where the project comes in.

Everything from a single source

In future, all the key components of wiegon will be introduced in Saalfelden: digital access control, pay-as-you-throw weighing, digital waste collection, and applications for residents, recycling centre staff and waste management operators. The integration of all these components on a single platform will make the entire waste management system modern, efficient and citizen-friendly. Whether at the recycling centre or during bin collection from the kerbside, everything runs via a seamless system.

At the heart of the system for residents is the Mein Wiegon app, which will be available free of charge to all Saalfelden residents from spring 2027. It will become their personal guide to all aspects of waste management.

At the recycling centre, users simply log in at terminals and weighing scales using their smartphones; a card is no longer required. Payment is no longer made on site, but conveniently via the local council. In the app, residents can view their recycling centre drop-offs and bin collections at any time, centrally and transparently in one place. The app also provides useful information such as current opening hours.

The benefits at a glance

• Register at the recycling centre directly via your smartphone
• No card required
• No payment required on site
• Full transparency regarding your waste disposal via App
• An overview of your bin collections
• Up-to-date information and opening hours always at your fingertips

Thank you for your trust

We would like to thank the town of Saalfelden for its trust and for the excellent cooperation during the preparatory phase. We look forward to working together to implement this project and to making waste management in Saalfelden fit for the digital future.
