On October 15, we held our symposium “The Future of Waste: Digital, Citizen-Oriented, Climate-Relevant” with over 80 expert participants from local government, business, and academia. The aim of the event was to discuss current developments and practical solutions for modern, sustainable waste management.
In his keynote speech, “The Art of Excuses in Sustainability and Climate Protection,” Dr. Thomas Brudermann made it clear that climate protection is not a maybe, but a must. The time to act is now.
The presentations and discussions throughout the day impressively demonstrated the potential that lies in digitalization and cooperation within the industry. The future is created through cooperation, expertise, and a shared desire to implement sustainable change.
Program highlights

- Discussion panels with experts from administration, research, and practice
- Tour of the Achenkirch digital recycling center as an example of digitalization in the service of sustainability
Circular economy means responsibility. For materials, resources, and people. The symposium showed that this responsibility is increasingly being shared.
